Rocna bow compatibility
This American 50’ in Sydney for repairs & refitting was fitted with a Rocna 40kg to replace an old Delta 40kg, the owner is going on an extensive cruise to Patagonia after crossing the pacific from California to Australia.
This was a complicated fit up as it is a bow sprit mount, as usual, we were called in after the Bowsprit had been painted & refitted, so bowroller modifications had to be a bolt-on scenario.
As often happens the stock of the Anchor was in danger of hitting the roller furler for this scenario we fitted an overroller and a larger bowroller.
This vessel was also fitted with a new Bowplate, with integrated Chain Lock & fairleads.
The Chainlock was set up with a removable pin so in an emergency situation, entire chain and rode had to be dumped. This boat had dragged repeatedly whilst fitted with a plough then delta, and the owner had become very proficient at dumping his chain – all 100m of ½”.
We do not feel he will need this function anymore.
This vessel was also fitted with a new Muir Anchor Windlass, this was fitted with the new Hands Free Controller that allows movement all around the boat with remote control.
As a backup, we fitted a hand pendant that was direct wired to the Solenoid and radio receiver box for the controller, this was accessible via a deck plate next to windlass.
This way we had no plug joints or any electrical switching on the deck.
We also fitted a ¼” Chain Protection Strip to the bowsprit, this is better than stainless strip as the stainless strip will scratch and rust, and is also noisy and hot under foot.
