Rocna bow compatibility
...Some photos I took of the Rocna anchor that I fitted to my 1995 Rival Bowman 36 (7,500 kg displacement) last winter. The Rocna replaced a 45 lb genuine CQR which has now been consigned to a locker. The only time I have used the CQR since is to weight my mooring line when tied to a tidal harbour wall. We are delighted with the Rocna and would not go back to our dinosaur anchor. It has set immediately on every occasion we have used it this year. I now don't bother to pull it in by reversing as it always sets itself.
Fitting the Rocna to the bow roller was not a problem, but I did need to fit a block of teak inside the anchor locker for it to be fixed to, as the shape of the shaft is different. In fact I fitted a larger Rocna because it is smaller in overall length than the CQR. I was concerned that the retaining drop nose pin wouldn't fit through the Rocna. I considered drilling a hole in the right place on the Rocna, but have found it better to tie it in place as the pin has occasionally bent and jammed after a rough passage.
You kindly sent me a file of the side elevation and I made this up in hardboard to ensure it would fit prior to purchase.
