Rocna bow compatibility
I bought my 15 kg Rocna here in Vancouver... it fits fine on the bow roller of my Hanse 371. It digs in immediately and holds strongly in all bottoms tried so far. It grabs so well that it revealed that my anchor windlass was not as well secured as it should be, moving noticeably when the anchor grabbed. I have reinforced the mountings and added large backing washers which seemed to do the trick. I always use a rope bridle to relieve the strain on the windlass and quiet the grumbling of the chain.
I do find the Rocna a bit more work to break out, and it often brings up a large chunk of bottom with it, sometimes including clams and worms. The Claw usually came up clean, perhaps indicating it wasn't really dug in.
I'm very pleased with the Rocna anchor. I plan a trip to Alaska next summer so it will get a good workout then.
