Rocna bow compatibility

The standard Sea Ray comes without an anchor windlass or a bow roller. Many Australian owners prefer to have an anchor windlass and anchor over the bow. With this set-up we usually fit 40m of 6mm short link chain. The standard windlass we fit is a Muir 600 vertical – this is fitted to the anchor locker hatch and access deck plate is fitted to allow the hatch to be bolted down.

We remove the bicolour navigation light on the bow (this has usually been smashed off), and over this point we fit a custom bow roller. We fit port & starboard navigation lights, either Attwood original or lately many owners have requested LED lights. The anchor windlass circuit breaker is fitted in the lazzerette next to other breakers. The windlass is controlled by a switch mounted in the dash.

There are two types of bow rollers we fit; one is a modified standard bow roller, the other version is a custom drop-nose bowroller with dual rollers & tuned bail. Note some Sea Rays claim they are pre-wired for anchor windlasses – we have found this is rarely done correctly, a full wire with 35mm tinned cable is best, the reversing solenoid is fitted under the dash.

The bail is the stop device for the anchor.
